The Best CBD Gummies: What Are The Benefits?

The Best CBD Gummies: What Are The Benefits? - King Buddha

CBD products come in all shapes and sizes. One of the most popular forms of CBD you can find today is the CBD gummy -- modeled after one of the most popular forms of candy in the country.

Like their candy counterpart, CBD gummies are tasty edibles that contain cannabidiol (CBD) oil. They come in a wide range of flavors, colors, and shapes, making them an easy, low-profile way to enjoy the benefits of CBD.

Gummies also come in different “strengths,” using varied amounts of CBD oil to meet different needs. The FDA does not regulate the majority of CBD products on the market, so purity levels and potency can vary from product to product.

Before we get into choosing the best CBD gummies, let’s talk about why someone might want to take them in the first place.

ARE CBD GUMMIES HEALTHY?

The typical CBD gummy contains the same ingredients as similar candies, with one obvious exception: Cannabidiol oil.

Cannabidiol oil (CBD) is the compound that affects the user’s endocannabinoid system. This system is present throughout the body and -- much like the endocrine system -- is responsible for moderating numerous physiological functions.

The endocannabinoid system plays a part in regulating a wide variety of things in the body: mood, blood pressure, energy level, pain, digestion, immunity, bone density, glucose metabolism, stress, and even hunger.

With the endocannabinoid system having such a wide impact throughout the body, small changes can make big differences. A chronically deficient or overactive endocannabinoid system could produce any number of symptoms.

Since CBD affects so many bodily processes via the endocannabinoid system, it has been used to relieve anxiety, depression, pain, inflammation, seizures, and to improve sleep.

And even though our knowledge of the biological processes is new, this isn’t really a new development!

The medical community has only begun intensive studies, but people around the world have used CBD for thousands of years to treat pain and other maladies.

Some recent studies found that cannabinoids, such as CBD, could offer helpful new treatments for people with both chronic and acute pain. Research has also shown that CBD users are not likely to build up a tolerance, so they would not need to increase their dose over time to experience the same benefits.

One form of CBD has been approved by the FDA for prescription use. Epidiolex Is a prescription CBD oil that was FDA approved in June 2018 for two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome. Other trials are underway investigating the benefits of CBD for other afflictions, including Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, depression, and anxiety.

IS CBD LEGAL?

Many people want to know if CBD is legal. CBD stepped into the spotlight after changes to federal law allowed hemp to be legally grown in the U.S.

Hemp-derived CBD products that contain less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are now legal on a federal level. (These laws are still changing and evolving, so they may still be illegal in some states. Check your state laws on CBD products to be sure.)

CAN YOU GET HIGH FROM CBD GUMMIES?

The high produced by marijuana is a product of THC, a completely different cannabinoid from CBD. CBD has no psychoactive properties of its own, so products made only with it will not give you a high. (CBD can cause a stronger high when mixed with THC, some studies show.)

As we mentioned before, CBD is derived from legally-grown hemp, which is almost devoid of THC. By law, this hemp must contain no more than 0.3 percent THC, well below the amount necessary to create products with psychoactive properties.

King Buddha uses broad-spectrum, THC-free CBD in our products, which means that you don’t have to worry about small amounts of THC building up in your system.

CAN CBD GUMMIES MAKE YOU FAIL A DRUG TEST?

We’re often asked, “Can CBD show up on a drug test?” This is a fairly common question -- and for a good reason.

The short answer is no. There should not be enough THC in a legal CBD gummy to show up on a standard drug panel. There are a few caveats here that make the simple answer a bit more complicated:

  1. If you’re not using pure, high-quality CBD products, they may have more THC in them than you think.
  2. Using a very large amount of CBD products can cause you to show positive for THC if there is enough of the unwanted cannabinoid in the product. This is another reason why it’s important to use quality CBD products.
  3. Drug panels that screen for CBD do exist, and on the very rare chance one is used, the CBD gummies will probably show up. (This doesn’t matter if CBD is legal in your area; a positive CBD test is not the same as a positive THC test.)

If you’re worried about CBD showing up on a pot drug test, you should use a very pure product that is third-party tested to ensure quality. The most reliable suppliers and retailers should be willing to share lab reports or test results with you.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD, CANNABIS, HEMP, MARIJUANA, AND THC?

The growing culture around cannabinoids can be confusing at times. Many people assume that cannabis, sativa, hemp, and marijuana are all different words for the same thing. (They’re not.) And still, more people believe that CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the same compounds or that they produce the same results. (Also not true.)

Let’s start by defining these words correctly.

Cannabis is a plant. There are two main types of that plant; Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa

Marijuana is a product of the cannabis plant. While it can be derived from both types, hemp is only derived from the Cannabis Sativa family.

Though hemp and marijuana have a few things in common, there are definitely differences. From a consumer (and legal) standpoint, the most important difference is that hemp contains nearly zero THC. (Remember that legally-grown hemp must contain no more than 0.3 percent THC.)

There are also notable differences between hemp oil vs. CBD oil.

While hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant, it is very different from CBD oil. Hemp oil is also used quite differently. Being high in B vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin E, omega-6, omega-3 (fatty acids), and GLA, hemp oil is often used for skincare.

That being said, it contains little to no CBD, which makes it completely different from CBD oil despite its list of benefits.

In addition to CBD's medicinal uses, hemp is also a great resource for making environmentally-friendly products such as biofuel, building materials, textiles, and paper.

HOW MANY CBD GUMMIES SHOULD I EAT?

This depends on what effects you’re looking to get from taking CBD. Cannabidiol can be quite effective against pain, but the required dosage will depend on the type of pain.

The standard amount is 25 mg of CBD for most conditions. Also, it is recommended that you take 25 mg more every 3-4 weeks until you get the desired effects.

Many people also take CBD for anxiety. The standard dosage of 25mg is considered a good place to start. Some studies suggest that 40 mg of CBD is the more effective dose for social anxiety. Depending on your specific needs, you may have to take up to 300 mg of CBD to feel the full benefit.

Everyone’s body reacts differently to varying treatments and dosages, so we always recommend checking with your doctor before beginning any new therapy or regimen.

WHERE CAN I GET THE BEST CBD GUMMIES?

Although the FDA doesn’t regulate CBD products, you can maximize your results and minimize risk by choosing top-quality CBD products from well-known sources.

Do your research and choose wisely. While some CBD providers submit their products for independent lab testing, other providers do not and have no verifiable way of proving what is contained within their oil. Don’t take chances with your health!

By purchasing your CBD products from a trusted supplier like King Buddha, you’re able to see the independent lab results and know exactly what you’re getting. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
